Literature Response "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon" 9/19
At the beginning of this story Minli is the main character and she lives in a village that is poor and most people work very hard to get food to eat. They have to work so hard because they live in a village close to the Fruitless Mountain. It is called the Fruitless Mountain because the Jade dragon used to make it rain in the village, until one day she heard the villagers complaining about the rain, she got offended and said she would never make it ran there again. Since there is no rain the villagers have to work very hard to grow the rice and survive. One day after working hard in the fields, Minli heard a man coaxing people to come look at his carriage, so Minli went to look. She saw the carriage was field with goldfish. The mas selling the goldfish said that the goldfish will bring people fortunes of gold and jade. Minli used one of the only two copper coins that her family has and bought a goldfish. I wonder if the goldfish is actually going to bring her fortune.
